Many young players say we are having success so why change? The same reason players hit .660 in high school and .185 in college. Success now does not mean success later. There are 4 types of swing patterns.
1. Drag - 10% of hitters. Found in young players where the bat is dragged through the zone. This will work itself out as strength is built.
2. Push - 50% of hitters. Most common swing. Where top hand pushes bat through zone typically creating ground balls.
3. Pull - 35% of hitters. The bottom hand pulls the bat through. Usually resulting in pop up.
4. Elite - 5% of hitters do this and we teach it. It's where both pushing, pulling, and rotating work together to create a powerful upward swing that keeps the bat in the ball path for the majority of the time.
